How I Finally Started Translating My Articles into English
In 2017, I participated in a training program for Chinese lawyers hosted by the Bar Council in London. During my time there, I met Sister Julian, who was working in the UK, at church (more about my time in the UK church in another article “關於倫敦蘇豪堂歷史的感人見證”).
Julian is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. She told me she really enjoyed reading my articles and often shared them with sisters who might benefit. At one point, she even thought about translating my articles because many sisters born in the UK couldn't read Chinese, and WeChat’s translation feature wasn’t very accurate.
At the time, I quickly waved it off, saying there was no way I could let her do that. I told her, “When I have some free time, I’ll translate them myself.” But this idea has been in the back of my mind ever since, and I never got around to it. It’s been seven years now, and I still haven’t found the time…
Today, it suddenly occurred to me that I could actually start publishing articles in English. Thus, I decided to translate one. Even with all the advanced technology we have today, translating is still quite challenging. My English skills are limited, and many Chinese phrases are difficult to translate directly into English.
I apologize to any English readers (though there might not be any). I probably won’t be translating another article into English.LOL
But with this little English journal, I want to express my gratitude to Sister Julian and thank her for her years of support.
