前言
人們經常要求我們推薦書籍。雖然偶爾會有人詢問具體問題，但大多數人只是在開始學習改革宗神學時尋求一般性的指導。有這麼多好書可讀！但我們必須從某個地方開始。我們發現，採用一種規律周密的閱讀計劃可以夯實讀者的基礎，並促使他們獲得廣泛的知識——這將深化讀者在各個領域的研究。
我們的名單涉及面較廣，但帶有一定的傾向。例如，我們在教會史這部分推薦了許多跟美國曆史相關的著作，因為——無論如何——我們的顧客絕大多數是美國人。此外，這份清單還在進行中。我們後續會新增新條目，刪除舊條目，並在新書出版和收到反饋時改動一些內容。
其中一些推薦書目來自威斯敏斯特神學院（Westminster Theological Seminary）之前提供的一份書單。讀者也需要熟悉《威斯敏斯特信條》和《威斯敏斯特要理問答》。正統長老會（OPC）在網上為這些檔案提供了各種格式的電子版。
但最重要的是（我們再怎麼強調也不為過），你要以禱告的心規律閱讀聖經，也就是通讀整本聖經——每年至少讀一遍。離開了禱告和閱讀神的話語，神學研究不僅毫無價值，甚至是有害的。

如何使用這個書單

在每個神學領域中，我們都把閱讀書目分為三個類別，對應著不同的閱讀階段。這三個層級並不總是與閱讀的難度相對應。有時候，第三層級的著作在文字表達上淺顯易懂，但在你掌握了第一和第二層級著作的內容之前，它們並不適合你去閱讀。
我們還嘗試在每個層級中按照建議的閱讀順序列出書名。儘管如此，每位讀者都有自己獨特的經歷和具體的專長，所以採用這些建議應該有一定的靈活性。
剛接觸改革宗傳統的讀者可能會發現，即使是第一層級的書也很有挑戰性，但你要剛強壯膽。繼續努力學習，多提問題。在掌握了第一層級的閱讀內容之後，你再去研讀第二層級的書。由於神學的各個領域相互聯絡，在進入下一個層級之前，你需要建立一個廣博的知識基礎。因此，在進入任何神學領域的第二層級之前，你要讀完所有神學領域第一層級的書。
同樣，只有在你牢牢掌握了所有中間階段的閱讀內容之後，才能進入第三個層級。不要把這當作一場“閱讀競賽”。仔細、耐心和深思熟慮的閱讀會讓你受益匪淺。你要考慮閱讀的質量，而不是數量。
