中國近現代建築學與建築教育事業發軔於20世紀初， 畢業於賓夕法尼亞大學的中國建築學人如梁思成、林徽因、楊廷寶、童寯等人在其中發揮了奠基性的作用。一個多世紀以來，東南大學與賓夕法尼亞大學之間形成了深厚的歷史淵源。
“建築四傑”之一童寯的故居始建於1947年，經過一年多的修葺擴建，成為一座有關中國近現代建築發展歷史的小型紀念館。恰逢2025年東南大學-賓夕法尼亞大學暑期學校（SEU-PENN SUMMER SCHOOL）期間，在童寯故居共同探討：歷史遺產更新中的設計力量。
本次賓夕法尼亞大學校友沙龍將匯聚東大與賓大兩校的設計力量，透過國際視野下的行業交流，推動中美兩國的設計與文化交流，為設計行業跨領域合作提供新的契機；也為兩校師生提供共同的學習平臺，激發兩校師生的專業創造力，交流學習經驗，探討學術前沿。
Modern architecture and architectural education in China emerged in the early 20th century. Chinese architects who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, such as Liang Sicheng, Lin Huiyin, Yang Tingbao, and Tong Jun, played a foundational role in it. Over the past century, a profound historical connection has been forged between Southeast University (SEU) and the University of Pennsylvania.
The former residence of Tong Jun, one of the "Four Great Architects", was built in 1947. After over a year of renovation and expansion, it has been transformed into a small museum dedicated to the history of modern Chinese architecture. Coinciding with the 2025 SEU-PENN Summer School, this historic site will serve as the venue for a discussion on "The Transformative Power of Design in Heritage Revitalization."
This University of Pennsylvania Alumni Salon will bring together the design talents of SEU and Upenn. Through industry exchanges under an international perspective, it will promote design and cultural exchanges between China and the United States and provide new opportunities for cross-field cooperation in the design industry. This event will strengthen the academic connection between the two schools and promote innovation in design practice and education.

童寯先生是我國著名建築學家、建築教育家，中國第一代傑出建築師、中國近代造園理論和西方現代建築研究的開拓者，與楊廷寶、劉敦楨、梁思成並稱為“中國建築四傑”，他在建築創作、建築理論以及建築教育等方面為我國現代建築事業的發展作出了巨大貢獻。其故居為童寯先生1947年從上海遷居南京後自行設計建造的獨立庭院式住宅，1992年3月被列為南京市級文物保護單位，2002年被列為江蘇省文物保護單位。目前童寯故居已修繕完畢並得到區域性開發。全面建成後的童寯紀念館將成為一座有關中國近現代建築發展歷史的交流與活動中心，承擔收集、整理、展示、研究功能。
Tong Jun was a renowned Chinese architectural scientist and educator, as well as one of China's first-generation outstanding architects. He was a pioneer in the study of modern Chinese landscape architecture theory and Western modern architecture. Alongside Yang Tingbao, Liu Dunzhen, and Liang Sicheng, he was celebrated as one of the "Four Distinguished Architects of China." Mr. Tong made significant contributions to China's modern architectural development in areas such as architectural design, theory, and education.
His former residence, an independent courtyard-style house, was designed and built by himself after he moved from Shanghai to Nanjing in 1947. In March 1992, it was designated as a Nanjing Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit, and in 2002, it was listed as a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit. Currently, the restoration of Tong Jun's former residence has been completed, with partial development already underway.
Once fully completed, the Tong Jun Memorial will serve as a hub for exchanges and activities related to the history of modern Chinese architectural development. It will function as a center for collecting, organizing, exhibiting, and researching architectural heritage.
