現場影片顯示，特朗普反駁針對關稅政策的質疑聲音，堅稱主動權在美國，他的關稅政策將迫使其他國家向美國提供“一切”，因為“他們不想美國對自己徵收關稅”。
He then went on to mock rebel Republicans who suggest that the Congress should take over negotiations. "Let me tell you, you don't negotiate like I negotiate," Trump said.

他還談到了日本談判團隊，稱“就在我們說話的時候，日本人正乘飛機前來，人數很多”。
特朗普繼續嘲諷說：“這些國家都在給我打電話，拍我馬屁（kissing my ass），他們迫切地想要達成一項貿易協議。他們說，‘先生，請讓我達成一項協議，我願意做任何事，我願意做任何事，先生’。”
"I'm telling you, these countries are calling us up, kissing my ass," Trump said. "They are dying to make a deal: 'Please, please sir, make a deal. I'll do anything, I'll do anything sir.'"
期間，特朗普還威脅對進口藥品徵稅。他宣稱：“一旦我們這樣做，他們就會蜂擁而至。因為我們比其他任何人都有優勢，因為我們的市場很大。我們將很快宣佈對藥品徵收高額關稅。”
During his address at the fundraising gala, Trump said he would be announcing major tariffs on the pharma sector soon."Tariffs on pharma will be there because we don't make our own pharma drugs, they are made in another countries. Same packet in the US is price, sometime is price 10-times more. We are going to tariff pharma in such a way that companies will come rushing to us very soon. The advantage we have is, we are very big market. Very shortly, will announce major tariff on pharma and when these companies hear that, they will leave China and other countries because most of their products are sold here. And, they will be opening their plants here," Trump said.
北京時間4月10日，特朗普在社交媒體發文稱：鑑於超過75個國家已致電美國的代表機構，就與貿易、貿易壁壘、關稅、匯率操縱以及非貨幣性關稅等相關議題進行談判以尋求解決方案，而且這些國家在我強烈建議下，未以任何方式、形式對美國進行報復，我已批准實施為期90天的暫停措施。在此期間大幅降低對等關稅至10%，暫停措施立即生效。
US President Trump on Wednesday announced a 90-day pause on most of his new tariffs, and a lowering of the "reciprocal tariff" rate to 10 percent, effective immediately, he said on social media.
