請願者進一步強調，為防止此類事件再次發生，提出以《金秀賢防治法》為名的請願，希望擴大保護範圍，將現行保護13週歲以上16週歲以下兒童的未成年人法定強姦罪適用年齡，提高至13週歲以上19歲以下，並加強刑罰。
The petitioner directly referenced Kim Soo-hyun's case, stating that with the current legal framework, there is no way to hold the actor accountable, regardless of the allegations being made against him. The petitioner stated, "We request that the current age range of 13 to under 16 for statutory rape protection be raised to 13 to under 19, and that penalties be strengthened."
韓媒“今日體育”網站稱，截至4月1日中午，該請願在釋出僅一天後，獲得了超過1.7萬人同意。在韓國，國民請願若在公開之日起30天內獲得5萬人以上同意，便會提交至國會相關常務委員會審議，若審議透過，將提交至國會全體會議。
Public reaction to the petition has been swift and overwhelmingly supportive. Within just hours of being filed, the petition had already amassed over 20,000 signatures. According to the National Assembly's procedural rules, if a petition gathers more than 50,000 signatures within 30 days, it will be formally reviewed by the legislative body's subcommittee.
