Date: March 13, 2025
Time: 14:00-16:00
Topic: Using Debate Constructively
Sharpening reasoning, enhancing listening, and developing flexibility are only a few reasons why debating is a critical skillset for students. In this seminar, we will take a look at both academic as well as civic engagement through debate, and how students can articulate themselves through written and spoken words, sharing their own insights while also giving credence and value to others’ opinions. Turning analyzed information into constructive arguments is a skill that extends well beyond the classroom.
Trainer Bio
Matthew Jellick holds a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Southern California (USC) and has been teaching internationally since 2009. A former English Language Fellow (Ethiopia: 2014 – 2016) and English Language Specialist (Djibouti: 2022, 2023), Mr. Jellick likewise has extensive experience in China and has taught at the university level here for seven years, in both Shenzhen, and currently, in Beijing.
