Join us for an enriching day of professional development at the Beijing American Center on March 8th, 2025, for the English teaching seminar organized by the Regional English Language Office (RELO). Esteemed English Language educators, Kelly Donovan and Terra Leigh Nicoll, will lead four insightful and interactive workshops from 9 am to 5 pm, providing practical strategies for effective English teaching. Trainer Bios:
Kelly Donovan has spent much of her professional and academic career in China. She joined the NYU Shanghai faculty in 2020 as a Lecturer of English for Academic Purposes. She is currently teaching content-based courses entitled: “The Science of Friendship” and “The Final Boss: Defeating Social Issues in Gaming.” Her research interests include language & identity, teacher training & supervision, and Ludic Language Pedagogy. Prior to joining NYU Shanghai, Ms. Donovan was a participant in the English Language Fellow Program and Virtual English Language Fellow Program, both U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs exchange programs. She was hosted by Qufu Normal University (QFNU) in Shandong, China from 2018 to 2020.
Terra Leigh Nicoll is a former participant in the English Language Fellow Program, a U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs exchange program. She was hosted at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She also was a Virtual English Language Fellow (VELF) where she taught Indian diplomats policy writing online. Terra is currently an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Lecturer at New York University in Shanghai. Terra has a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and six years of teaching experience in university, adult education, and middle school. She has taught in The United States, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and China.

You must bring both your valid photo ID and registration confirmation in order to get into the BAC. Copies or pictures of IDs will not be accepted. Large bags and laptops will not be allowed into BAC for this event. Portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, iPads and other tablets, and smartwatches are allowed to bring into the BAC. Please wait in line at the East Gate of the Embassy.
