據1905電影網報道，截至2月26日中午，《美國隊長4》內地票房破9961萬，平臺最終預測票房僅1.05億，評分網站上有4萬人打出5.2的低分，無論口碑還是票房本片都創下了除《驚奇隊長2》以外的漫威電影在內地最差成績。

另據觀察者網訊息，2月20日，英國廣播公司（BBC）發文，試圖將《美隊4》在中國票房遇冷歸咎於《哪吒2》影迷燃起了所謂“民族主義情緒”（nationalist sentiment），稱只有1350萬美元票房來自中國這個“好萊塢最大的海外市場”。
"Of the $92 million the film has made outside the US, only $10.6 million has come from China, Hollywood's larges verseas market," said BBC.
BBC以個別社交媒體使用者發帖為證據，稱小紅書有條“流行”的口號——“《哪吒2》在海外火不火我無所謂，但《美隊4》在中國必須死”，並試圖以此得出結論：
《哪吒2》影迷將《美隊4》視為“競爭對手”，他們燃起的“民族主義”影響了《美隊4》在中國內地的票房，《哪吒2》在中國已成為“檢驗愛國主義的試金石”，人們為支援國產片而不看《美隊4》。
一時間，不少網友直呼：“熟悉的BBC回來了”“一切都對味兒了”……
據央視新聞訊息，作為僅次於北美的全球第二大電影市場，中國觀眾一度是好萊塢影片可靠的票房來源，但如今已境況不再。
有美國網友評論稱，《哪吒2》不僅是中國動畫的新篇章，更是中國動畫電影走向世界的標杆。
