The Shanghai American Center in partnership with NYU Podcasting and Audio Reportage invites you to a documentary pre-release screening of “Age of Audio: A Tale of Modern Audio Storytelling.” This work-in-progress documentary tells the story of how podcasting became an industry with 400 million listeners globally. Podcasting has ballooned into a 2 billion dollar industry in the United States alone, but in a moment when many feel that the peak of audio glory has passed, Age of Audio pumps the brakes and examines the story of narrative podcasts within the greater scheme of audio storytelling; from its humble indie-radio beginnings to its mass-media enterprise present. Age of Audio offers a profound investigation into the industry's evolution, distribution models, and impact on communities: it sheds light on podcasting's storytelling, creativity, technological advancements, scalability, and advertising strategies. By examining the delicate balance between art, commerce, and technology, the film provides a thorough look at the podcasting landscape, while also exploring its future prospects.
A short Q&A will follow the screening.
The film is in English with Chinese subtitles.
