Research Assistant at the Laureate Institute for Brain Research
Located in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Position Overview
The Choquette Lab at the Laureate Institute for Brain Research (LIBR) is seeking a motivated clinical research assistant to join our dynamic and interdisciplinary team. Our lab is dedicated to investigating the role of interoception and other mechanisms underlying body image disturbance (BID) in eating disorders, with a particular emphasis on developing mechanistically informed treatments to enhance patient outcomes.
Our current research is supported by a National Institute of Mental Health grant (5K23MH135213), which aims to examine the causal role of interoception in BID among individuals with anorexia nervosa (AN). This project employs a novel, multi-method approach, integrating behavioral assays, self-report measures, and experimental manipulations to explore the mechanisms of BID and potential treatment pathways.
We are seeking a Research Assistant who will work closely with the lab director, Dr. Emily Choquette, as well as a team of physicians, psychotherapists, dietitians, and nurses from the Laureate Eating Disorders Program. The Research Assistant will be responsible for overseeing participant recruitment and enrollment, collecting behavioral, survey, and fMRI data, and managing data using the REDCap electronic data capture software. This individual will play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, upholding ethical standards, safeguarding confidential information, and supporting open-science reporting. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining the float pools, including monitoring water quality, ensuring proper sanitation procedures, and coordinating routine maintenance to uphold safety and research standards.
This position is ideal for individuals interested in gaining hands-on research experience before pursuing graduate or medical school. The Research Assistant may have opportunities to contribute to study design of potential pilot projects, data analysis, and interpretation. Research Assistants are encouraged to develop independent research projects for presentation at national and local conferences, engage in LIBR career development programs, and attend scientific lecture series offered by LIBR.
