A recent incident in which a man performed CPR on an unconscious woman has sparked heated debate online, with some accusing him of "inappropriate touching" during the rescue.
The man, surnamed Pan, 42 years old, said that he is a medical teacher at Hunan Polytechnic ofEnvironment and Biology. He was riding a shared bike with his child on Saturday when he noticed a woman lying unconscious on the street.

A doctor from the First Affiliated Hospital of University of South China, who was in civilian clothes, was already performing CPR but appeared exhausted and called for assistance, Pan said.

Without hesitation, Pan rushed over and took turns with the doctor to administer CPR for about 10 minutes. Their efforts paid off — the woman regained weak breathing and pulse, and her eyes opened before an ambulance arrived to transport her to the hospital.

However, after videos of the rescue circulated online, some netizens questioned whether Pan had acted inappropriately by pressing on the woman's chest. In response, Pan, a clinical medicine graduate, explained that his hands were placed correctly on the sternum during CPR, and the medical professional present did not correct his technique.
Despite the criticism, Pan said most comments were supportive, which comforted him. "I feel upset about the negative remarks, but I know I did nothing wrong," he said. When asked if he would help again in a similar situation, he affirmed, "Even after this, I wouldn't hesitate to step forward if someone needs help."
