Seperate your Trash

While formal recycling bins in China aren't commonplace is many cities, you can help out by seperating recyclables such as plastic bottles and cardboard when you throw out your trash.
Much recycling in China relies on plastic bottles and cardboard being collected by cleaning staff, often elderly, which they can exchange for a small amount of cash, cash which they rely on to survive. Why not make their job easier by seperating these items and placing them beside the trash ready to go.
The same applies for other items which can still be used, such as furniture which you can place next to your compound trash and you can be sure it wlll be put to good use or give someone less fotunate the opportunity to earn a little more income to get by.
