據央視新聞訊息，3月4日，外交部發言人林劍主持例行記者會。有記者就美國再次以芬太尼為由對中國加徵10%關稅一事提問。
對此，林劍表示，相信你應該也注意到了中方的有關部門釋出的公告，美方執意以芬太尼問題為藉口，再次對中國輸美產品加徵關稅，中方多次闡明反對立場，採取的反制措施完全是維護自身權益的正當、必要之舉。
China will play along to the end if the US is bent on waging a trade, tariff or any other kind of war, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Tuesday after Beijing announced 10-15 percent additional tariffs on US imports, covering a range of agricultural and food products. These additional tariffs on US goods are in response to Washington's latest tariff move.

芬太尼問題的根源在於美國自身。中方出於人道主義和對美國人民的友好情誼，採取有力措施幫助美國應對芬太尼問題，這是有目共睹的，美國各界人士多次對中方表示感謝。美方非但不領情，反而對中國抹黑推責，透過加徵關稅施壓訛詐，這是恩將仇報，不僅解決不了美國自身的問題，還將嚴重破壞雙方在禁毒領域的對話與合作。
林劍重申，中國人民從來不信邪，不怕鬼，從來不吃霸道霸凌那一套，施壓、脅迫和威脅不是同中方打交道的正確方式，對中國搞極限施壓，那是找錯了物件，打錯了算盤。美方如果真想解決芬太尼問題，就應該在平等、尊重、互惠的基礎上，同中方磋商解決各自關切。美方如果別有所圖，執意打關稅戰、貿易戰或者別的什麼戰，中方將奉陪到底，我們奉勸美方收起霸凌嘴臉，趁早回到對話合作的正確軌道上來。
"I want to reiterate that the Chinese people cannot be swayed by fallacies, deterred by intimidation, nor have they ever tolerated hegemony or bullying. Pressure, coercion, and threats are not the right way to deal with China. Attempting to exert extreme pressure on China is a miscalculation aimed at the wrong target," Lin noted.Lin emphasized that if the US genuinely wants to address the fentanyl issue, it should engage in consultations with China based on equality, respect, and mutual benefit to resolve each side's concerns. He noted that if the US has ulterior motives and insists on waging a tariff war, a trade war, or any other kind of conflict, China will fight to the end with firm resolve, adding that "we urge the US to abandon its domineering demeanor and return to the right path of dialogue and cooperation as soon as possible."
