Daniel Abebe became the 16th dean of Columbia Law School on August 1, 2024.

Dean Abebe's scholarship centers on the relationship between the constitutional law of U.S. foreign affairs and public international law. His research has been published in leading academic journals, such as International Studies Quarterly, The University of Chicago Law Review, The Supreme Court Review, and the Stanford, Chicago, Virginia, and University of Pennsylvania journals of international law, and he has presented at conferences and symposia around the world. Dean Abebe has taught Property, Foreign Relations Law, Conflict of Laws, Public International Law, and Legal Issues in International Transactions.

Before joining Columbia Law School, Dean Abebe served as vice provost for academic affairs and governance at the University of Chicago, where he was responsible for stewarding critical aspects of university-wide academic life as well as important strategic assignments, such as articulating and affirming the principles of free expression and institutional neutrality. He was the Harold J. and Marion F. Green Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School and served as deputy dean from 2016 to 2018, prior to his tenure in the Office of the Provost from 2018 to 2024.

2015年，李本教授合作出版了《看得見的手：中國國家資本主義的制度意涵》（牛津大學出版社），該書探討了國家廣泛干預和參與如何推動中國經濟的發展，為中國經濟轉型提供了重要的深入分析。

李本教授同時擔任哥大法學院帕克外國和比較法學研究中心主任。

Benjamin L. Liebman leads Columbia Law School's Hong Yen Chang Center for Chinese Legal Studies, the first institution of its kind at a U.S. law school. The center prepares students to take on leadership roles in Chinese law and provides them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in China's rapidly changing legal environment.

Widely known as a preeminent scholar of contemporary Chinese law, Liebman studies Chinese court judgments, the roles of artificial intelligence and big data in the Chinese legal system, Chinese tort law, Chinese criminal procedure, and the evolution of China’s courts. His research has covered diverse topics in Chinese law over the years, ranging from leniency in criminal law to medical dispute resolution and securities markets.

Regulating the Visible Hand: The Institutional Implications of Chinese State Capitalism

Professor Liebman also serves as the director of the Parker School of Foreign and Comparative Law.
