Responding to a question about whether China is currently engaged in trade agreement negotiations with the US after the White House claimed that the US was "setting the stage for a deal with China on trade," China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday that China's position on the US-initiated tariff war is very clear.
有記者問：據報道，美國總統特朗普對記者稱，我們與中國相處得不錯，同中方談判時不會採取強硬態度。對華145%關稅確實很高，協議達成後美對華關稅將大幅下降，但不會降至零。中方必須同美達成協議，否則無法同美做生意。若不同美達成協議，就按美方說的辦，美才是定規矩的一方。美財長貝森特表示，當前局勢本質上是貿易禁運。美國目標並非與中國脫鉤，兩國可能在兩到三年內達成一項全面協議。與中國就此類協議的談判尚未開始。中方對此有何評論？
郭嘉昆說，中方早就指出，關稅戰、貿易戰沒有贏家，保護主義沒有出路，脫鉤斷鏈只會孤立自己。對於美國發動的關稅戰，中方的態度很明確，我們不願打，也不怕打。打，奉陪到底；談，大門敞開。
郭嘉昆指出，如果美方真的想透過對話談判解決問題，就應該停止威脅訛詐，在平等、尊重、互惠的基礎上同中方對話。一邊說要同中方達成協議，一邊不斷搞極限施壓，這不是同中方打交道的正確方式，也是行不通的。
If the US side truly wishes to solve tariff-related issues with China through dialogue and negotiation, it must stop threatening and extorting, and conduct the dialogue on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefits, Guo said.
