英國《每日電訊報》18日刊登了對英國財政大臣蕾切爾·裡夫斯的專訪，裡夫斯在專訪中表示，英國應與中國建立更深層次的夥伴關係，而非設定新的障礙，“中國是世界第二大經濟體，我認為不與其接觸是非常愚蠢的。這是本屆政府的態度。”
Rachel Reeves has said it would be "very foolish" for Britain to disengage from China, in a rejection of Donald Trump's efforts to isolate Beijing.In an interview with The Telegraph, the chancellor makes the case for a deeper partnership with China rather than erecting new barriers.
裡夫斯還表示，她支援中國快時尚企業希音在倫敦證券交易所上市，同時在專訪中提到了中國電動汽車，她表示，“很多倫敦電動計程車在英國生產，所有者是中國公司。我認為倫敦擁有這些電動計程車是一件好事。它們也很受計程車司機歡迎。”

The chancellor says: "I think we've probably all been in a taxi in London and they are produced by a Chinese company there. They're produced in Britain, but the owner is a Chinese company. I think that those London electric taxis are a good thing. They're very popular with taxi drivers as well."
裡夫斯表示，她今年早些時候赴華參加中英經濟財金對話，以提升英國金融服務企業在華運營能力。“這些安排顯然符合英國國家利益，我將用這種態度與世界任何國家開展貿易談判或金融對話。”她說。
"Those sorts of arrangements are clearly in the UK national interest and that's how I will approach trade talks or financial dialogues with any country in the world."
《每日電訊報》寫道，這些言論進一步表明，工黨政府下定決心要深化與中國的貿易與金融聯絡，而這正是英國首相斯塔默數月來推動的議程。
