北美華人健康（CNIW）隆重推出青年醫學人才發展系列講座，首期特邀麥吉爾大學醫學院二年級學生 Max Yan 分享其獨特的成長曆程。作為北美華人健康協會（CNIW）的學生董事會成員，以及CNIW 生物與健康未來領袖挑戰競賽（HOSA）專案總監及總教練，Max 不僅在醫學教育領域傾注心血，更透過創新的社群健康專案搭建起醫療知識與新移民需求之間的橋樑，為追逐醫學夢想的青年樹立了一個融合學術深度與社會價值的成長榜樣。

Our inaugural session features Max Yan, a second-year medical student at McGill University, who will share his cross-disciplinary growth journey. As the HOSA Project Director and Head Coach at CNIW , Max not only excels in medical education but also bridges medical knowledge with the needs of new immigrants through community health initiatives, offering a growth model that combines academic depth and social impact for aspiring medical professionals.

▸ 臨床實踐能手：在湖嶺醫療及渥太華醫院 8 年的一線工作中，從急診重症到癌症、眼外科、骨科多科室輪轉，錘鍊出「快速診斷 – 跨學科協作 – 人文關懷」三位一體的臨床能力，其服務案例被收錄於多倫多社群醫療最佳實踐手冊。

📚 Cross-Disciplinary Practice: From Educational Innovation to Clinical Exploration

Max Yan’s career trajectory highlights the diverse possibilities for medical talent development:

▸ Educational Empowerment Pioneer: As the leader of the HOSA (Biology and Health Future Leaders Challenge Competition) program, Max spearheaded the development of a medical skills competition training system covering areas such as medical testing, nursing, and physical therapy. Through workshops and tailored materials, he nurtures clinical thinking and teamwork skills in high school and university students, helping them excel in national competitions. HOSA is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, and several federal and state agencies.

▸ Community Health Advocate: During his tenure as CNIW Summer Program Director, Max designed a “Medical English Communication Course” for new immigrants and seniors, systematically teaching skills for expressing health needs and navigating the Canadian healthcare system, empowering over 200 families to build confidence in accessing medical care.

▸ Clinical Practice Expert: With 8 years of frontline experience at Lakeshore Health and Ottawa Hospital, Max has worked across departments including emergency critical care, oncology, ophthalmology, and orthopedics. He has honed a triadic clinical competency of “rapid diagnosis – interdisciplinary collaboration – compassionate care,” with his service cases featured in Toronto’s Community Health Best Practices Manual.

✨ As a key component of the CNIW Medical Talent Development Program, this session includes a special “Young Medical Professionals Roundtable.” Max will join three practitioners from different medical fields (family physician, nurse, and health policy researcher) to address audience questions. Whether you are a teenager exploring career paths or a professional seeking a career transition, this in-depth dialogue on educational innovation, clinical practice, and community service will provide you with actionable frameworks.
