2月20日,斯里蘭卡中國文化中心成功舉辦“我和中國”主題講座。活動邀請斯中協會主席吉利特先生,作題為《中斯關係》的講座。德薇女子中學師生,及蘭比尼孔子課堂等單位共80餘人出席活動。
蘭比尼孔子課堂主任王菲博士致辭表示,中國與斯里蘭卡有千年佛教紐帶與鄭和下西洋的歷史淵源, “一帶一路”戰略指引下深化合作前景廣闊。以“我和中國”為主題的文化交流活動分享斯里蘭卡人的親身經歷,展現了兩國人文交融的動人故事,拉近了兩國關係,促進了民心相通。
德薇女子中學副校長尤甘塔表示,學校自1998年以來參與中斯兩國文化和教育交流與合作,開設中文課程,參加兩國藝術展、徵文比賽、學生訪學中國等活動,感謝中國為學校提供的支援,並表達了對中斯友誼的美好祝願及未來進一步合作的期待。
斯里蘭卡中國協會主席吉利特的講座,回顧了斯里蘭卡和中國歷史悠久的友好關係,再現千年以來,兩國貿易和佛教往來,相互尊重、真誠相助的景象。他盛讚中國人民守時、勤奮和樂觀的品質,以及中國高速鐵路等現代化建設成就。

China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka holds “Me and China” Lecture
On February 20th, the China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka successfully hosted a lecture themed “Me and China.” The event featured Mr. Jinith, Chairman of the Sri Lanka China Society, as the speaker, who delivered a lecture titled “Sino-Sri Lankan Relations.” Over 80 attendees participated, including faculty and students from Devi Balika Vidyalaya (Devi Girls’ High School), representatives from the Lumbini Confucius Classroom, and other organizations.
In her address, Dr. Wang Fei, Director of Lumbini Confucius Classroom highlighted the millennium-long Buddhist ties and historical connections between China and Sri Lanka, including the voyages of Zheng He. She stated that the “Belt and Road” initiative provides guidance for deepening cooperation with broad prospects. Dr. Wang noted that the cultural exchange event, themed “Me and China,” shared personal experiences of Sri Lankans, showcasing moving stories of cultural integration between the two nations. This event effectively strengthened bilateral relations and promoted people-to-people connectivity.
Mrs.Yugantha Liyanage, Deputy Principal of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, stated in her speech that her school has been actively involved in cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Sri Lanka since 1998. She mentioned the school’s offering of Chinese language courses and participation in various bilateral activities, including art exhibitions, essay contests, and student exchange programs to China. Madam Yugantha conveyed her gratitude for China’s support to the school and expressed her sincere wishes for the enduring friendship between Sri Lanka and China, as well as her anticipation for further collaboration in the future.
Mr. Jinith, Chairman of Sri Lanka-China Society, delivered a lecture that reviewed the long-standing friendly relations between Sri Lanka and China. He vividly depicted the millennia of trade and Buddhist exchanges, highlighting the mutual respect and sincere assistance that have characterized the relationship. Mr. Jinith praised the Chinese people’s qualities of punctuality, diligence, and optimism, as well as Chinas remarkable achievements in modernization, such as high-speed railways.
Following the lecture, cultural activities including exhibitions, calligraphy, paper-cutting, and lantern making were arranged. Teachers and students enthusiastically participated in these activities, experiencing the joy and engagement they offered.
“Me and China” is a significant signature event organized by China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka. It is designed to build a platform for cultural exchange between China and Sri Lanka. Through Sri Lankan sinologists, friends of China, experts, and scholars, the event shares stories, thoughts, essays, and research findings about China. By presenting a Sri Lankan perspective, it aims to showcase an approachable and endearing image of China to a wider Sri Lankan audience and to continuously promote the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
