長難句！
托福考生心中的痛！
考場上時間本來就很緊張，還要花費精力讀長難句。
關鍵是：讀了半天，還是讀不懂……
長難句究竟應該應該怎麼突破，我們今天來看幾個實用小技巧。
今日例句：
一、抓重點詞
動詞，名詞，形容詞和副詞是一句話中的重點。
而這四大類中，名詞和動詞又格外重要，其次是形容詞，最後才是副詞。
所以我們在讀句子的時候，必須抓住名詞和動詞，形容詞和副詞部分可以快速略過。
二、找動詞、找主語，如果有的話，找到賓語或補語
上述例句中紅色是主語，橙色是動詞，綠色是賓語：
The present time sees us still in the very competitive artistic atmosphere where choreographerscompete to produce the most shocking work; however, there are still glimpses of beauty to be had, and much incredible dancing in an age where dance technique has progressed further in expertise, strength and flexibility than ever before in history.
三、找到主句
上述例句中的主句是：
A. The present time sees us.
B. There are glimpses of beauty to be had, and much incredible dancing in an age.
四、找到修飾語
這一部分會相對不重要一些。
我們將這兩個主句拆開來分析：
1. The present time sees us stillin the very competitive artisticatmosphere where choreographers compete to produce the most shocking work.
紅色是比較容易辨認的修飾語，除此之外，還有：
“in the very competitive artistic atmosphere where choreographers compete to produce the most shocking work” 是介詞片語修飾 “us”
在這個介詞片語中，我們再進一步拆解：
“the very competitive artistic”形容詞片語修飾“atmosphere”
“where choreographers compete to produce the most shocking work”定語從句修飾“atmosphere”
2. however, there are still glimpses of beauty to be had, and much incredible dancing in an age where dance technique has progressed further in expertise, strength and flexibility than ever before in history.
這是一個there be的倒裝句，主語是一個A and B的組合，A和B都是名詞片語 ：
-
A部分：glimpses of beauty to be had
-
B部分：much incredible dancing in an age where dance technique has progressed further in expertise, strength and flexibility than ever before in history
“much incredible”形容詞片語修飾“dancing”
“in an age where dance technique has progressed further in expertise, strength and flexibility than ever before in history”介詞片語修飾“dancing”
這個介詞片語那麼長，當然還可以再拆——
“where dance technique has progressed further in expertise, strength and flexibility than ever before in history”定語從句修飾“age”
定語從句再拆——
“in expertise, strength and flexibility”介詞片語修飾“has progressed”
than是一個連詞，這裡其實有省略，完整內容應該是：
dance technique has progressed further than it progressed before in history.
than前後比較的主謂都一樣，為了避免重複，可以省略
所以“before in history”是副詞片語修飾被省略掉的“progressed”
“in history”介詞片語修飾“before”
將這些修飾成分進行簡化，整個句子就會變得更加簡單，我們在讀整個句子的時候，只要掌握知道：
1. The present time sees us in competitive artistic atmosphere;
2. however, there are glimpses of beauty and incredible dancing in an age where dance technique has progressed further than ever before.
譯：現在的藝術氣氛依然很激烈，但是舞蹈之美與其技藝之不斷進步依然存在。
