Clinical Research Assistant (RA)
McLean Hospital OCD Institute
The Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Institute (OCDI) at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts is recruiting several full-time, in-person Clinical Research Assistants to begin late June – early July 2025. These are typically two-year positions.
The RA will manage several studies about the treatment and assessment of OCD and related disorders, which will involve working directly with adult participants in treatment at the OCD Institute (a partial hospital/residential treatment facility). The RA will work with OCDI investigators on both internally and externally (NIMH, foundation) funded projects, with current projects related to behavioral and psychophysiological mechanisms of exposure therapy,
cognitive biases, smartphone interventions, genetics of OCD, machine learning prediction, sleep, longitudinal treatment outcomes, and measure development.
The RA will work under the direction of Principal Investigators and will also work with a team of
research staff, as well as the clinical staff at the OCD Institute. The RA will manage progress monitoring for all patients in the program, which is completed as part of standard clinical care at admission, discharge, and weekly during their treatment. Specific duties will include administering data collection, conducting clinical assessments, communicating assessment
information to clinical teams, overseeing database management, contributing to running the day-to-day operations for research protocols, presenting research findings to clinical teams, and IRB management.
This is an excellent opportunity to prepare for graduate study in clinical psychology, and mentorship in the application process will be provided. Opportunities to initiate or assist in preparing conference submissions and writing scientific articles for publication are possible and encouraged. Depending on interest, RAs may also have opportunities to shadow and/or co-lead
treatment groups, as well as to obtain training in diagnostic interviewing and delivery of exposure and response prevention (ERP) sessions.
Interested applicants must have a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field and a minimum of one year of human subject research. We value applicants who demonstrate an ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong initiative, solid problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and attention to detail. Ideal candidates will have a strong willingness to learn and/or previous experience with statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS) and database management (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics).
